hey guys! so which of these formats has better quality, m4v or mp4? i am converting for my ipod touch 2g using the latest handbrake software. the only thing i change is the height to "640" or "720" so that i can still watch the converted files on my computer or on tv-out. the constant quality remains unchanged at 59%. conversion process takes about 2 hours for a movie so i am asking now to avoid wasting conversion time. thanks!

aside from that, any tips on conversion? i usually convert from an avi file

I can convert m4v to mp4 on my Mac in less than half a second by just changing the extension! Imagine that!

i was asking since i didn't want to waste time converting. anyway, i'll tell you maybe tomorrow. i'll convert the same file but in different file formats. but seems like the posts above said that both are kind of the same file?

m4v and mp4 should have the same qualities..
I don't think there is any difference between them besides the file extension.
