Just recently my ipod has started crashing a lot. Safari, Fring, Mail, installer. Everything is crashing within seconds of opening it. I installed the new update to installer yesterday, but I don't know if that's the root of the problem. Does anyone know what it could be? I fear I may have to fully restore

No, but if i continues reset your iPod. If it still goes on restore and re-jailbreak.

Try a force shut down with menu and power held down for a few seconds until the screen goes black, then turn it back on.

I used ziphone to jailbreak with. In general, about it says that I'm running 1.1.3 ... I thought I had 1.1.4...

Did you have 1.1.4 before you jailbroke? Ziphone doesn't upgrade the firmeware. If you applied the 1.1.4 Compatibilty Patch it will say 1.1.3 when it's on 1.1.4

I've heard that the compatibility crash slows things down and crashes your iPod, try uninstalling it.
