Got my 8GB iPod Touch today, When I plugged it it it says 6.50GB Free which is a fair chunk gone to start of with,

I have 8 apps installed so far, not even got around to music and they are all small apps like Twitter, facebook etc, Now after sync it says.

    Capacity 4GB Apps 0.17, Other 2GB, Free 1.85GB.

    An obvious issue somewhere?

That's normal, every HDD/SSD has that. My 64GB has also only 59GB. My startup disk with 120GB also has only 114GB as well as my 4GB USB stick has only 3.7GB.

The OS takes up like 2-5 gigs.. hell... maybe in the future it will take 10 gigs of space. This is why I learned never to buy an 8GB iPod Touch. Lesson learned

The OS does take up space. It doesn't just appear out of thin air.

It even says on the tech specs page:

Think of it like this. Every year, new things are added to iOS causing it to take up more space and since they've added so many innovative things to iOS, it increases the needed space for iOS to take up.

This is why I never get anything below a 32GB.

Well iOS has many things that the iOS 2 or even 3 didn't have.

Never get anything bellow 32GB. You may have the extra space, but that extra space will be there for when you need it, and trust me, one day you will need it.

With that post, you made me not to buy an iPod because I have the money for an 8GB and I'm not planning on giving more for the 32GB. People should warn users who are willing to buy one.

Lol, I meant 8GB for ANY iPods. I don't have a(n) 4G yet. Scroll back up. I should have been more clear, my mistake. People are reporting they get 6.5-7 gigs instead of the full 8.

I FEEL SO BAD NOW F***
