i jailbroke my ipot and its been working fine for a few weeks but today i was trying to get winscp to work when my ipot just crashed out and lost all my songs/vids/photos. it no longer responds to my usb so i cant charge it or anything. i still have the apps that i installed or came with the ipot but thats about all i have. any help would be greatly appreciated

Edit: none of the apps seem to be working properly ie installer, summerboard, safari and it doest seem to be saving any changes i make to the settings.

ive had a problem like that, its not worth dealing with, i suggest just restore. to get all your stuff the way you like, shouldnt take more than an hour. (with the restoring and firmware writing etc)

It's gonna happen more often when you use 3rd party apps!

Knock on wood, my ipod hasn't crashed yet, and I have 4 pages of apps. It has been jailbroken since the day after christmas, and I am on the original jailbreak. The worst I managed was to delete my preferences.app, which I restored with some command line action.

so, in my experience, the iPods are pretty stable.

Suggestion. Open your SSH client and type in the following. Each new line is a new command.

    /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard
    /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

Once Installer appears on your iPod, uninstall, then reinstall SummerBoard. Reboot and report back the results.
