iOS 4.0 Lost Capacity after Upgrading to iOS4.

    I went from a maximum capacity of 7.01 gb to 6.54 gb according to itunes after I updated...

    I would assume that backgrounds and multitasking would require a lot of space.

    The iPod touch 2g 4.0 firmware is about 50mb larger than 3.1.2. That would account for the space lost.

    Yeah, I noticed that too. The update was like 300MB+? And like they say, you cant get something from nothing, I mean how else would you gain all the features, and improved graphics?

    -.- I'm not taking up how much space the OS takes up. I'm talking about the maximum capacity the iPod could hold without the OS. If you plug in your iPod and go to itunes it says capacity. I'm referring to that.

    That would be the stuff you installed from Cydia or Rock. iTunes doesn't recognize it as in any of the predetermined categories, so it automatically puts it in "other".
