Judging by appearance, I honestly feel that the 5.5G looks better than the redesigned classic. Sure its thinner, but the nice hard plastic front of the 5.5G iPod I think looks a lot better than the Classic. What do you guys think?

I am gonna have to disagree. The classic at least somewhat brings back the original roundness found in 3G-4G models and is less scratch prone. I would know because i have a 160GB classic and had a 80GB 5.5G. Also, the enhanced UI is also worth it, not to mention the price drop.

I really like the Classic's look better. It looks more professional and smooth.

The firmware the Classic has is so tight, I have to admit.

I like the classic's outer appearence better to. But that's just me

I kind of disliked the new ipod interface when it first came out. However, if you have an Ipod video and would like the classic look, I am positive over at ipodwizard.net they have resource hacked it to look fairly alike with the new classic. I cannot offer much only that I once saw this.

Yes, but it can easily brick your ipod if you are not careful. Thats why I am going to wait for a later release of the classic to video firmware.

The touch would be the only thing I ever try to hack or modify thanks to it using OSX. iPod on the other hand... its just too risky.

Imo the classic looks cheap with aluminum or whatever its made out of. Although the gui does look nice. Simply said.

hehe. I cant believe I actually ended up buying one though.

Heres my new opinion on it now.

    5.5G - 80GB
    Classic - 160GB

    5.5G - Ordinary iPod Screen
    Classic - Split Menu

5.5G - Menu Speed is good
    Classic - Laggy Menu Speed

    5.5G - Scratchable
    Classic - Same
