Hey everyone. So, I'm going to be a sophomore next year and my mom told me that she would buy me a new laptop. Could you guys help me out in choosing one? I would like it to be; About 800$ or under Be able to be made into a hackintosh Be able to be used for light gaming The brand doesn't really matter to me Thanks!
Buy a refurb 13" MacBook Pro. They can cost as low as $850 from Apple's website. There aren't any on the site now for that low, bc they were just bought. In a couple days there should be more. I totally recommend a Mac. Look on eBay and Craigslist at MacBook Pros. macs can rein windows blisteringly fast (faster than a windows machine). Ask DarkAura17 if I'm not lying. If you want a PC brand, DO NOT BUY HP!!! My mom has an HP dv7, and it has issues every day with overheating, restoring once every month, glitches, hiccups, RAM issues...NO HP!!! For around $800, I can recommend Toshiba, but seriously consider a Mac...once you go Mac you never go back. Toshiba has some very nice computers (MUCH, much, much better than HP) for the $800 range. Btw. what are you looking for in a computer. I know you listed stuff above, but what do you REALLY want it for? What programs will you need to buy for it (if you don't have anything?) like Word. Do you have the programs you need already or do you need to buy some programs. Get back to me...
"Light gaming"as in minecraft? If so, pretty much anything around $500 will work for you but I'd suggest maxing out the $800 budget and getting yourself something very nice. Just make sure you get a laptop that has an Intel processor so that you can confidently hackintosh. Oh and don't get a Mac. Windows 7 is wonderful and you'll get way better bang for the buck in the hardware department. Unless you don't care about hardware that much. Then maybe a Mac is alright. :/
I like you! You recommend windows 7, then say that it's his (as the user) decision according to his needs.
After re reading the OP, the requirements sound to me like he wants Apple software without the apple price tag. So i suppose my windows 7 recommendation doesn't mean anything -.- @OP I've personally never believed in judging a whole company's build quality collectively. Judge the products that you're interested in on an individual basis (based on their own merits) and then look at the brand last. I'd recommend getting to actually feel the product you're interested in, though, so head over to best buy or whatever is near you and get a feel for them. trust your own judgment above that of someone on the internet. That's just my two cents.
Well program wise I would run typical school programs... word, powerpoint, ect. the OS doesn't matter very much to me, but I would like to have the option to hackintosh
If you hackintosh, if you don't do it right, something will definitely not work. Common issues include volume control, WiFi, etc. Get a Mac if you even are considering using a Mac OS. You can get Office fir Mac, too.
i wouldn't necessarily agree with that. Of course everything is going to work perfectly if you buy Mac, but if you're willing to go to the work to make it work right, hackintoshes can run flawlessly.
