I was wondering if the new operating system will allow password protection for particular folders.

I've noticed how easy it is to fall into porn on the app store and would like to put a password protection on the app store and other wifi applications.

Can I put them in a folder that requires a password to open? Then my kids could still safely play the educational apps but not have access to the app store in an unguarded moment.

Do you have other suggestions for how to keep other users from accessing either new apps or other sites through wifi?

I am used to using first generation and my new touch hasn't arrived yet. I'm sorry if this is something that will be easily figured out on my own when it arrives.

    Thanks for your replies.

Folders can not be locked. As far as I know there is no way to lock down the opening of the app store, however you can lock the downloading of apps. My only suggestion is to try and tell them not to open it... With a jailbreak you can lock it with lockdown.

If they don't allow porn, what's with all the apps of "sexy hot girls" and topless women and girls?

I love my ipod but I find those apps very offensive. They show up in the top 25 free apps. There are usually at least three like that.

    Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

The worst it gets with those apps is a girl wearing a swimsuit... That's the worst it can get.

well if you want to lock down your apps youre out of luck. but as for restricting access to the built-in apps, such as itunes, the appstore, safari (I think) etc you just have to enable restrictions in settings.

Lockdown will not work for iOS4, Lockdown Pro on the other hand will work on 3.x and iOS4, will be released within 3 weeks.
