The ivoiceIII of macally apparently works on the iPod Touch 1g with the 2.2 firmware. Have people tried other mics? If so; can we make a list or something? I tried to find the ivoiceIII mic at my local shops (in the Netherlands), but I didn't succeed. Just buying a random mic isn't smart I guess, so maybe making a "1g-2.2fw-working-mic-list" is a good thing to do.

    -edit-

Maybe a mod can change the title of this thread --> I made a typo, "fm" should be "fw" (firmware)

Is it possible to use e. g. Nimbuzz from Appstore to make skype calls with a 1G on 2.2 with that ivoiceIII?

Have you tried it by yourself?

Just to let you know: I have bought HAMA Record Adapter RA 3 (google
for it). It looks a bit different from iVoice III, but is works perfectly on my
1st gen Touch with fw 2.2 jb: Fring, Nimbuzz and Siax. It has also a line
input jack. It seems to be a bit wider than the iVoice, but the plug for
    the earbuds fits.

For places to buy it, try Google.

    Cheers,
    JoshMosh

As far as I know, the IVoice III can no longer be purchased. Macally does not sell it anymore. However, the IVoice Pro seems to be what 1g 2.2fw needs to function as a recording device. Apparently the IVoice III needed to be modified to work on the 1g 2.2fw and the Pro has made it plug and play out of the box for the 1g with 2.2fw.
I'm curious to know if anyone has actually purchased the Pro and tried it on a 1g with 2.2fw with an app such as Fring?

Perhaps MacAlly does not distribute it via retailers any longer, but the iVoice III, according to MacAlly's website, can still be purchased directly from them for USD$39.99. That seems a 'touch' expensive considering that by all accounts it used to sell at WalMart for $25. The iVoice Pro is $49.99 direct from MacAlly as well.

Me, I got my iVoice III from eBay.
