    yeah
youll be able to have both

if you install linux, i recommend you to use ubuntu and before doing anything with your hard drive (like partitioning or formatting) just test it with wubi

    http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

    there you get ubuntu

if you dont have any cds or dvds available or simply dont want to waste any, just download this and plug in an usb drive, and use it instead of a cd

    hope i helped

Dude, google Wubi. You'll want that, if you're new.

If you don't like it, you just remove wubi in Windows, and Ubuntu is deleted.

I'll post again later with more info.

Ok, yeah, Wubi will install Ubuntu just like a normal OS, although it is a hands-off experience. You will make your username/ how much space you want to give it, and Wubi will download and install Ubuntu on a seperate partition on your hard-drive.

In the end, it will be exactly the same, except the chances of failure are lowered. So, I'd say do that. It will install Ubuntu 9.10 (the newest).

If it messes up (or it can't find your drivers), you just boot Windows up, and go to the Remove Programs panel. Delete Wubi, and that should go ahead and remove Ubuntu.

    Its simple, really.

    And, Ubuntu 9.10 was released.

Linux is the name given to all of the distro's, collectively.
