Linux: Whast it good for on the Itouch

    So I have heard and saw ipenboot or sumthing for linux on the front page and linux for the ipodtouch i saw a video of it too, but i dont really get what the big deal is about it, and what can it do?...why is it worth it?

    any suggestions?

    No offense, but you leaving this section of iPodTouchFans and not worrying about any of this will help you in the long run.

    If you don't get why this is such a big deal, you don't need to worry about it.

    I'm mostly in this for philisophical reasons, as I don't want proprietary software to run my computers. Other people are in it for the fun of it.

    If you don't get what "it" is, that's what I'm talking about when I say you don't know what the big deal is.


    Really, I'm not trying to be mean to you or anything, but this is the truth.

    A working Linux kernel on the iPhone.


    If you don't get amazing images coming to your head after that one sentence, there isn't any point in you trying to participate.

    Its a diamond in the rough atm, but it is a tremendous achievement. Once the devteam figures out how to interface with the hardware then we might eventually see something similar to Google android ported "I assume this because android is based on Linux".

    Like I said though, at the moment its only useful to select people "since you need a keyboard that works with the dock port" and more of a tech demo to everyone else.
