    Linux is safe and customizable

Linux isn't compatible with all apps. You can use Wine (which allows you to run .exe) but it doesn't always work (such as iTunes syncing). Windows XP also uses LESS system resources so make sure your computer can handle Ubuntu before you install it.

Actually I think that a fresh XP install is faster than a fresh Linux install. But once you get antivirus its slower.

linux is non-supported however its open-source OS which means anyone can modify it, so theres more freedom to what you can do, its just if theres not a GUI app for it, you just got to know how to do it via programming a program of terminal or kernal modify if you really need to get deep into it

    Linux:
    Free (Usually)
Easily modded to run on anything
    Widely Avalible free software
    LiveCD means try b4 install
    Windows:
    Cost to get after trial
Pain in the ass to mod, my experience
Dont see windows having a liveCD

    Jus my opinions...

I just switched to Ubuntu , and I LOVE IT!
    Pros:
faster to boot (About 14 minutes difference, in my case!)
awesome interface (There is also an app store for it, were you can download games and stuff)
Less applications (there is about 32,000 apps supported for ubuntu) but they are better than windows
    Free!

    Cons:
    As i said, less applications
no iTunes... (I'm dual booting ME and Ubuntu, Well i've never tried ME, it just showed up, so i'll use that for itunes)

Thats it. I think ubuntu is WAYYYY better.
