If you look at the system requirements it says

64-bit editions of Windows Vista require the iTunes 9 64-bit installer

Cainy, since you're using windows 7, how does it compare to XP x64? I can't get itunes working on my XP64 anymore, so I guess it's about time for me to update this stupid OS.

It appears that the installer is 64 bit but the actual iTunes application is not. I have Vista 64-bit Ultimate and the installer DLL file is in Program Files whereas the iTunes executable is in Program Files (x86) which is where 32 bit programs live.

It's true. The only '64'-bit about the installer is the drivers. The application itself still runs on 32-bit. It even says iTunes.exe *32 on Windows Task Manager.

It's waay better. Companies actually write drivers for them!
