it's just as legal as... say... downloading music or videos. OBVIOUSLY it's illegal, but who cares?? it's not like you're gonna take it back to the store and say "dur.... i f***ed up my ipod trying to hack it... anything you can do??" cause they're gonna tell you to go shove it. if your gonna take it back, force it into recovery mode first, but i don't see why you would need to.

Um, I'm fairly certain that it is NOT illegal.

    It just voids your warranty.

I got bored and read the copyright one day. And so it clearly states that redistribution and modification of the firmware is legal. Nothing to worry about

Jailbreaking is legal, however, any ROMS you put on it that you don't own is illegal. But who really cares?

Restore before you send the iPod Touch back if you can and if you can't and you have a hardware mistake and need Apples help then smash it and say it got crushed and get a new one.

    Jailbreaking itself isn't illegal.

It's what you do with jailbreak that makes it illegal.

Most likely everyone here has it illegal.

Not paying for the applications is illegal, same with roms.

    Similar to limewire.
The program itself isn't illegal its how you use it.

Which leads to hardly no risk at all so don't worry.

    Exactly.

But its not like you can't restore it and such.

Just so you know, I returned a Jailbroken 1.1.3 16GB touch to Best Buy. They said they would just restore it before putting it back on the floor. That should make it pretty clear its not illegal.

The one thing that can make it illegal is not paying for the iPhone apps, if you bought yours before the software update. However, if you paid for them, you are in the clear. My hacked 32GB is perfectly legal because it came with the iPhone apps I am running now. I don't have ROMs and such on it either, so yeah.
