there were some updates on cydia today so i pulled them down and installed them.

now, whenever i install something in cydia, when i go back to my homescreen all my icons are gone.

re-springing brings them back, but this is getting to be a hassle.

    any ideas?

Uhhh wow. I'm really happy I didn't update it yet!

I think it's just a update issue as in "The makers problem".
I'll try updating and see how it goes

I got a similar issue. Well, actually quite the opposite, it made ALL my apps show, including once I had chosen to hide as well as ones hidden by default like the nike and test apps. Respringing made them go away again. This happens occasionally when I sync apps with iTunes too.

i have the same problem since i updated those mobile files, i wish i never did, now i think the only option we have is to restore our ipods and loose our save data YET again, it really does peeve me off!

the only way to get rid of it is to hold down the power button and center button so the ipod can restart, it's getting really tedious having to do it over and over, any permanent solution to get rid of this problem or are we stuck with it?

restoring and re jailbreaking doesn't fix this. so don't bother.

its a bug in UIKit Tools 1.0.3227-1 that does this, it only affects users on 3.1.x firmwares, and the only fix is to revert to a previous version of this package.

you can get the previous version at apt.saurik.com/debs/

    i downloaded this one
    Code:
    http://apt.saurik.com/debs/uikittools_1.0.3198-1_iphoneos-arm.deb
just install it over the new one and reboot your idevice.

    -or-

wait for a fix to show up on cydia.

    up to yall.

nor does staying on the same firmware update (which is corrupted anyway) solve anything either, i just installed the recent "update" for Mobile Substrate and it does nothing, my icons are still gone, restoring, resets the ipod to default settings, it's the only way to get rid of this, your logic is silly.

a.)the problem wasnt Mobile Substrate. it was UIKit Tools 1.0.3227-1.

b.)restoring your ipod and re-jailbreaking will not help. why? because as soon as your open cydia it will update to the latest UIKit Tools and your icons will disappear again.

c.)the link i posted? was to the june 4th version of UIKit tools, and it didnt make icons disappear.

    and last but not least.

d.) it doesnt matter anyways as a new UIKit tools update was released, and it fixes this problem.
