Landscape in native apps other than safari?

    Why cant u type in landscape any where other than safari?

    i mean if ur writin in notes app or mail app etc i cant tipe in lanscape
    y cant i?

    That is how the applications are designed, Safari only switches between portrait and landscape for better viewing.

    they should have it where you can landscape it anywhere.

    Design flaw. You should be able to change orientation in ANY program, including the home screen. I would rather have the iPod in landscape 100% of the time, I like the wide view better because it feels less cramped. Maybe apple will patch it.

    i concur
    also it's easier to type on the keypad when in landscape
    the keys are bigger and better spaced out
    i dont have fat fingers, just i'm not used to the keypad yet

    It's kind of inconsistent, isn't it?

    I think the same about other apps, but also some apps aren't even consistent between portrait and landscape when they do change.

    Playing music is a pain in the neck - if you put yourself in landscape and leave the thing on the desk, you can't alter the volume or change tracks without picking the Ipod up, and switching to portrait.

    Why not? What's wrong with having controls in coverflow? I'd rather not have coverflow if it means the controls get scrapped to make room for it.
