I was reading on the internet about setting up a LAN between two PCs for Left 4 Dead.

Some people said you need a dedicated server connected to the internet in order to play with someone sitting next to you.

I have an ethernet switch which i usually use for LAN networks.

Can me and my mate play this game together without an internet connection?

    Any advice?

    Cheers

I think you could just hook up a ethernet cable between the two computers.

yeh, or what i do, because i have vista and a laptop:

    1. go to connect or disconnect in network connection list thing for wifi
    2. at bottom go set up a connection
    3. set up a wireless adhoc

and then you are pretty much hosting off your machine locally.

Both people need wireless cards which they might not both have.
