Is it possible to by-pass the "slide to unlock" on start?

I have searched the forum a bit and have found a couple of threads that show how to change the text but I presume that can only be done with jailbreak.

yes, it can only be done with a jailbreak as you need access to some folders that are restricted without a jailbreak.

I don't think you can actually by-pass it. But if someone were able to, then they would have to be jailbroken for sure. There's not much modding that can be done on an unjailbroken iPod.

Yeah, the most you can get to customization on an unjailbroken iPod is changing the wallpaper and the position of your Apps.

    That's about it.

so is this what you want, put your ipod to sleep, instead of waking it and going to 'slide to unlock' page you want to go directly to app pages?

    install activator from cydia.
go to settings and choose "activator".
    select "at lock screen".
choose any action from the list.
    set it as unlock device.

the only one i have found to be ineffective is the single press for the home button, which is unfortunately the only way to completely bypass any extra action.

i learned a long time ago that anything cool and interesting you can do to an ipod touch requires the same first step: jailbreaking. JUST DO IT.
