NOTE: THIS DOES NOT WORK ON 1.1.2 FIRMWARE!

    Tutorial for keyboard 'Skinning'

Before you can start you need to follow this tutorial and set up total commander
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15569&highlight=total commander

once that is set up we can begin

First go to my documents and if you havent already make an ipod touch folder then inside there make 1 folder named Common Keyboard and the other Latin Keyboard

Inside those 2 folders make another folder named pngs

download this iPhoneShop-0.6.jar (can be downloaded here http://code.google.com/p/iphoneshop/downloads/list)

and place 1 copy in the Common Keyboards folder and save another copy into the Latin keyboards folder

now ssh into your ipod and go to this directory \System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework

copy these 2 files to your folders accordingly so the Keyboard-Common.artwork to the common keyboard folder
and the Keyboard-Latin.artwork to the latin keyboard folder (Note this is 18 mb it may take a while)

MAKE A BACKUP OF THESE FILES IN ANOTHER LOCATION^^^^^^^

to extract the files press Start,Run, Type CMD into the box and hit enter

now in the box type in cd C:\Documents and Settings\Whatever your computers name is\My Documents\Your ipod folder name\Common Keyboard then hit enter

the address will now change to extract the common keyboard files into the png folder paste this command into Command Prompt

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Common.artwork export pngs

it will run down a few lines if done correctly and then your artwork will be put into the png folder

Minimize Command prompt so it makes it easier to import the files again

go to the png folder inside Common Artwork folder Modify them untill your hearts content and to put them back into the file to put on your ipod

Open command prompt and type in

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Common.artwork import pngs

It will run down the same amount lines because its importing the data you have just extracted

once it has finished it will say your file has been created and it is inside the pngs folder at the bottom it will be named Keyboard-Common

Now with Total commander go to \System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework and put the Keyboard-Common in there

Now for the main set of keyboards

Close Command Prompt and then re-open it

this time type in cd C:\Documents and Settings\Whatever your computers name is\My Documents\Your ipod folder name\Latin Keyboard then hit enter

the path will change and then type in

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Latin.artwork export pngs

It will scroll down 98 lines and will say if done correctly file has been created in your pngs folder

    Minimize command prompt

Modify the files again untill your heart is contempt

to put all the files together again type in

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Latin.artwork import pngs

It will scroll down another 98 lines and if done correctly it will say file has been created in pngs folder

With Total commander go to \System\Library\Frameworks\UIKit.framework and put the Keyboard-Latin in there

Dissconnect and then re-spring or re-boot and you will have a custom set of keyboards

Hope you enjoy 'Skinning' Your keyboard

If you need any help just pm me and ill help you

    Thanks Shotgunfool!!

you need 2 files common artwork and latin artwork these can be found in system/libary/frameworks/uikits

the latin keyboard has most of the keyboard you must transfer them another way not ssh... ssh will just crash and you will end up with an invisible keyboard

    Extract Common Artwork

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Common.artwork export pngs

    Import Common Artwork

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Common.artwork import pngs

    Extract Latin Artwork

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Latin.artwork export pngs

    Import Latin Artwork

java -jar iPhoneShop-0.6.jar ARTWORK Keyboard-Latin.artwork import pngs
