It's been a critical topic in my opinion, and I just had an idea for keyboard input. Imagine holding a ten inch tablet similar to how you would hold an iPod Touch. A virtual keyboard spanning the whole screen would be impossible to use, and a smaller keyboard in the middle would be extremely uncomfortable and unnatural for usage. My solution? Split the keyboard in half. Since the user would be holding the tablet with two hands, leaving the thumbs free, it's only natural that the keyboard gets divided into two and put on both sides of the screen. Half of a qwerty keyboard would be on one side, and half would be on the other. The keyboard would be scaled down so you could comfortably and easily reach the desired key. I'll create a render of what I mean tomorrow, but I was wondering what you think of this idea? It's easier than typing on the screen with all 10 fingers and easier than typing on a small virtual keyboard with our index fingers.
