Fellow owners, there must be other users who have taken this step....
I have "upgraded" from a 16Gb (full) to a 64 3rd gen iTouch and find ALL my docking stations...
    BOSE
Philips AJ300D (my alarm clock.... sorry was my alarm clock)
    Logitech
now proudly display the new iTouch with a heartwarming message that informs me the new iTouch can not be charged.... oh Joy
    Please tell me it's lying!
My "old" iTouch used to charge just perfectly. never had to wory about silly stand alone chargers or pluging in fiddly leads to usb ports etc. just took it from room to room....
On a more serious note is it faulty iTouch? Can't believe my BOSE won't charge it.

What firmware was the 1g on? In 3.x a lot of old docks stopped working. I know there is a way around it but I forget where i saw it.

To answer your questions the 16Gb had the latest updates possible. I took the "chocolate saucepan" (the 64Gb itouch) to work and plugged it into my cheap but very new dock and again it proudly said it would not charge! By the way the Philips ex alarm clock dock is still currently available and selling in the shops( £70.00)!!! What are apple playing at, it only needs to charge!!!! They must have put more effort into saying it won't charge then making it compatible..... Is this beta-max arrogance or what. The cost of Docks someone suggested I replace (exactly with what?) is nearly £400.00 !!!!!!!!!!

those are firewire chargers, apple stopped supporting fire wire after the first gen touch, now the only charging supported is usb. Your docks arent really worth much now. sorry

    solution...

Pick up a Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter. Picked one up myself and works great. Somewhere around $20/$30. It's a little big, but will save many of your accessories.
