    Ok, so heres the story...
My lil bro got a ipod touch 3rd gen for xmas and we jailbroke using blackra1n.

However, we have a few questions...

    1. We heard that running blackra1n to boot your ipod will mess it up after a while; its been howlong (nearly a month) and we havent had problems, jus not sure.

    2. Cydia keeps randomly crashing when we que things up for install, is this normal?

    3. Sometimes springboard will crash for no aparent reason, and it resprings to "safe mode"; however, after another respring, or reboot, things are fine; is tthis also normal?

sometimes the theme or addon that you have download from cydia will cause your itouch to go into safety mode.
its a simple question of finding which one has done the deed and removing it from your device.

1.) No, but if you don't let the battery die at least once a month, it will start to loose charge.

2.) How many GB is his iPod?

3.) It may be caused by some apps.

#2 and #3 sound like lack of RAM issues. If this is so, you are running too many things at once.

    1) We do let the battery die once every 3-4 days.
    2) 8GB, with 1.3GB free
    3) It was a ram issue, with free ram sometimes dropping to 3-5MB before everything would freeze and respring!

    1. 3-4 days is probably too much and might hurt more than help. Just do it once every few weeks.
    2. It's technically normal for Cydia to crash if you queue a lot of things for install. On a 3rd gen you should be able to queue ten+ things. Install SBSettings and go to more>Extras and Options>turn on *Statusbar Free Mem. It will respring and now show you the free RAM on your device. If it drops any lower than about 8MB, install everything and don't try to queue any more.
    3. If it does that all the time it means you have a conflicting app or tweak; if it happens every once in a while it's because you have too many things running in the background. Just be more conservative about multi-tasking.
