Redsn0w 0.3 worked like a charm! BTW, is Cydia the only thing being installed after jailbreaking?

What exactly is Cydia? Do people download and install all the 3rd party appls from there?

    Thanks a bunch!

Why would anyone jailbreak if they don't know what it's for?

You should have looked at what jailbreaking actually did before doing it...

Cydia itself is pretty much a package manager, among other things. It's a client for you to download things, such as new themes, apps, and some hacks/tweaks, from third party sources, and functions as a manager to help you organise your downloaded content

I recommend getting SBSettings, Winterboard, OpenSSH, MakeItMine and MxTube to start

Thank you! I've got OpenSSH setup.

Any recommendations for IM clients? I primarily use msn messenger...

MobileChat is a great Jailbreak IM client. It runs in the background too, so chats still carry on as if the app was running... something you won't see in the appstore anytime soon

EDIT: To SSH content from your computer to your device, you'll need an SSH client on your computer first. If you're on windows, I reccomend WinSCP

You get apps from cydia, and for themes just copy them from your computer to Library/Themes with an SSH client

Well, did you search the forum? did you look at some sticky threads in the customization& theme forum? Look for something call winterboard. Again, for Winscp, search the forum to see what it does.
