FYI - this recently came to my attention:

Jiggy, is an IDE that lets you build and run Javascript apps right on your jailbroken iPhone and Touch. - They have a great short example (17 lines!) of a gui 'Hello World' program on the front page of the site.

Ya I saw this too, but didn't quite understand what it could do. Like playing java games? Or what kind of useful java apps are there?

I might toy with this, but I think I'd much prefer to use Objective-C to code apps.

Java and Javascript are two very different things.

tag009> This is not a game, or an app, well, it is an app... But it's main purpose is to allow you to make your own apps, using JavaScript; not Java.

I've been toying with it for the last 24 hours and haven't gotten too far yet, but I can see this turn into quite a promising dev environemnt for those of us too lazy to setup a proper toolchain.

The only real use I can imagine for this would be to AutoGenerate the Objective-C code for the GUI. There are a lot of people out there that are struggling just to do that. Once the GUI is properly set up, the rest of the coding is a cake walk.
