I have for the first time, jailbroke my iPhone 3G.

I followed the PwnageTool on the simple settings, and I was eventually able to boot my iPhone, with new Apps 'Cydia' and 'Icy' sat there on my iPhone pages.

But that's as far as I can get.

Cydia is all to heck, stuck in some some sort of error cycle.

It starts with displaying 'Loading Data' for a long time.

    Then, it says "Downloading Release"

Then, it says "Reloading Data" for a long time.

Then, a message says "Essential Upgrade"

If I choose the "Upgrade Essential" option, it takes me to a 'confirm' page. I confirm it, it then says 'Downloading Cydia Installer' and a few other things.

Then it says, "Error: Running. Couldn't configure pre-depend dpkg for sed. probably a dependency cycle".

This is where I am up to with my first ever jailbreak, and it looks a mess. Can anyone help me get this all working again?

    Please go easy, noob

If it's any help to my helpers, nothing on 'Icy' works, say I try instal a theme or anything, I get the message

"Package Core Utilities" cannot be installed (DPKG returned error 2) More information can probably be found in the consile log.
