    Try disconnecting your iPod from the computer before jailbreaking. In my experience, the jailbreak process will fail if you are running Windows, you have iTunes open and your iPod is connected to the computer. I haven't noticed the problem on my mate's Mac.

    That's a packing problem, you have to hex edit the 16th, 17th, and 18th bit's reading 01 00 E1 to 01 20 E1 of the three primary data packs, then remark to 1.1.1 firmware... lastly repack and be sure to upload non-SSL otherwise your ipod will brick... you have to do this before turning it on three times otherwise your ipod will brick as well.
