Is it possible to jailbreak the iPod touch 2G with an untethered jailbreak and keep save files from games, notes, etc.? I think I kept my saves when I un-jailbroke from the semi-tethered jailbreak, but I'm not sure if it will still work with the untethered version. I remember restoring, saying yes to back up, and then synced it as the same device in iTunes and it came back. I'm guessing something like Quickpwn (if it's needed) is not going to allow this to happen. Is there a way to load the firmware in iTunes and run the commands in cmd.exe like the semi-tethered? If it's the only way to keep the files, I'm willing to spend the extra time to jailbreak.

Ok, I did some research and I think I am going to go with a semi-tethered and then use something to untether from there. First I need someone to confirm that I can keep my saves when semi-tethering.

I just realized that the semi-tethered to untethered will only work until I want to update the firmware. Then the only way to jailbreak will be to restore and jailbreak (losing the files in the process) unless a new firmware will allow the commands for semi-tethered to work. If the semi-tethered commands do work, I can restore with a backup, semi-tether, and untether, correct?

hi, it works for me, this is what i did:

1.- sync your ipod with itunes, and then COPY your ipod (right click on the ipod and select copy)
2.- use quickfreedom and custom firmware to jailbreak untethered
3.- when you start your newly jailbreaked ipod, connected to itunes, there are 2 options ( new ipod or restore form a backup) Select the second.
4.- it will restore AGAIN, BUT with the jailbreak still on.
5.- now you have to SYNC your ipod with itunes.
6.- There you go....... all your saved games, notes, etc..

it workd for me, hope it help you

It might say copy, but for me it says Back Up. I am pretty sure they are the same though.

i think there is an app in Cydia, called AppBackup or something, it backs up the savefiles.
