Seriously, just take 10 minutes and browse the forums.

A little 3-second Google search wouldn't hurt either.

I'm not being anything close to the term.

I'm simply tired of explaining things over and over again, when it could all be avoided if they took 10 minutes and just looked for the answers.

That's fine, there's nothing wrong with that.

Just check the forums first, then come back and ask us any unanswered questions you have.

I don't mind helping, as long as you help yourself first.

Yes, you can search, which I have done myself, but it would be nice to have something a little more consise on how easy (or not easy it is) to jailbreak, what advantages there are, and what possible disadvantages there are (like could it be possible for Apple to brick us from the regular App store)?

I'm new to the whole IPod Touch thing myself. Just got one and didn't know anything about Jailbreaking so I (unfortunately) immediately updated my 2nd Gen Touch to 3.1.1 with Itunes 9. Now, I'm regretting it and anxiously awaiting a jailbreaking tool that will work easily on Windows (and has been confirmed as working properly). I don't want to take any chances on ruining my Touch. Jailbreaking has peaked my interest, but I'm still on the fence. That's why consise threads like this would be useful!! Heck, may even a sticky like this.

Mosaic no need to be so rude.

OP: You honestly could have searched a little. But to answer you question, jailbreaking allows for full customization of your iDevice, full root access, allowing unsigned apps to run on your device, etc.

Mosaic, you have a point but you don't have to make it in such a harsh way, he's obviously new.

Taline, check out this thread for benefits of jailbreaking.

Just for the future, there's a search link at the top, most things have already been answered before somewhere on the forum, check them out before you make a thread

You, my friend (sbelli), have superb grammar.

Okay, let's see if I can help:

With the soon-to-be released jailbreak (greenpois0n), it will literally take one minute to jailbreak your device.

You can completely customize your iPod. Such as; themes, wallpapers, dock customizations, extra preferences, mods, utilities, etc.

Basically, it's an AppStore on steroids.

No, you will absolutely not be bricked from the AppStore. Jailbreaking is undetectable by Apple, and is obviously not illegal.
Also, you cannot "brick" your device by jailbreaking.

Many people share your anxiousness. The Windows version is expected to release soon, just sit tight.
And again, you cannot permanently ruin your iPod touch.

    Hope it helped.

Anything else you need to know, just ask.

edit: to Burnes and Bobby, I'm not being rude. It just gets tiresome, as you both should know.
