Not sure if I'm wording this right...How long does it usually take for a jailbreak to become available? Do you think it will be possible to downgrade the 4g firmware? Specifically, I'm wanting to be able to use btstack or roqybt, which ever works better, before a trip on the 15th. Or should I get a 3g touch and just return it after my trip?

It will most likely be out with 4.1.

Sorry, that doesn't help. YOU NEED THE BLOBS. They sign 4.0.2 at the moment. That means that when you plugin your iTouch it (automatically?) updates to the latest version. 4.0.2. Therefore, no jailbreak.

When i first plugged my touch into the computer (it was used) it was running 2.2.1 and the current modern firmware was 4.0

So I would be best off just buying a 3g and returning when I get home?

No, if you really want it wait for the 4G's jailbreak.

Shouldnt take TOO long for them to come out with one.

    Maybe a month or so...
