So I'm really excited for the upcoming 2g jailbreak, and I have some questions.

    1. How much space do apps from Cydia / Installer take up? Is it the same amount as the normal apps in the official App Store?

    2. I'm on 2.2 firmware, what exactly do I need in order to jailbreak? I've heard you a need a 2.1.1 "bootloader" or something?

    3. Will the Jailbreak process delete all my stuff on my iPod?

    4. How does Apple backup iPod Touches? I've heard people say, "Just sync it and it'll backup" ... What?

    THANKS!

This should be in the 2nd gen forum or the redsn0w forum.

We don't really know what is needed to jb yet.

    1) About the same, yes. Don't use Installer, though, it sucks. Use Cydia.

    2) I have a first-gen so I wouldn't know.

    3) No.

    4) Backups take forever and they aren't really useful. If you jailbreak and then restore, you ALWAYS want to choose "Set up as a new iPod," because restoring from a backup can cause problems. But if you want to back it up, all you have to do is sync it and it will back it up.

The correct answer, is yes, because you will most likely want to restore to a fresh ipod before you jailbreak, and then you can re-sync your apps/music/videos/photos on afterwards.
