Hello, I have an ipod touch with 2.0 firmware on it (5a345, to be exact). I also run linux. I would like to jailbreak my ipod, so I was going to follow this guide. The one thing that that guide (or any other one that I have seen) does not specify is whether or not I will lose all of the music and applications that I already have on my ipod if I do this. Much of the music was given to me, and I do not have another copy of it on my computer, so I really don't want to lose it.

So..if I follow that guide to jailbreak my iPod, will I still keep my music and applications?

Sorry, I should have been more specific...Is it possible to back it up in such a way that I can jailbreak it, and then restore my music while still maintaining the jailbreak?

If not...how can I back up my iPod anyway?

If you backup your iPod you can restore you're iPods music. Yes.

Just don't use iTunes to back it up cuz that doesn't back up music.

I can't sorry. I've never done it before so I wouldn't know. But my advice is to google. Or ask someone else.
