I recently updated my iPod touch 2g MC 8GB to OS 4.0

Prior I had been jailbroken on 3.1.2
I had to update because the device was stuck in restore mode.

Before updating I had SHSH blobs on file with cydia for OS 4.0 and 4.0.1

I Downloaded the iPod touch 2g OS 4.0 firmware from felixbruns.

    I added
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    to the HOSTS file @
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

When trying to restore in itunes using SHIFT-restore, I get an error. Usually 3014 or 3015.

I am running Windows XP pro with SP3.
    I am using itunes 10.

I would like to downgrade to OS 4.0 so I can Jailbreak with jailbreakme

    Any Advice is greatly appreciated,

    Thank you

Are you using Recovery mode or DFU Mode? Use DFU.

If you're already using DFU Mode, you might need to downgrade iTunes.

This is an exact copy of the hosts file

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

    Is this Correct?

I am using DFU mode. Now i get an 3194 error.

    Please help

Remove Saurik's host file. Then open Tinyumbrella and start TSS sever and restore.
