    Hi all -

First off thanks to GeoHot for all his work!!!

I currently have an iPod touch 2G 8Gig jailbreaked on firmware 2.2.1. I want to upgrade to the 3.1.2 firmware and jailbreak using blackra1n however I don't want to lose what I have downloaded to my ipod through Cydia.

How can I go about upgrading without losing data on my ipod (emulators and themes downloaded through Cydia)?

Thanks for all your help, this forum is a very informative place!!!!

Well, emulators don't work with 3.1.2 so you may not want to upgrade. And you can just back it up with iTunes and then update, then restore your backup and jailbreak.

Ok that is good to know as emulators are one of my main reasons for Jailbreaking. I would assume that eventually we will see updates to emulators that make them compatible with 3.1.2?
