I've read forums all over the place talking about bluetooth headsets and how the microphone functions never work. I've also stumbled on the FM transmitter in said forums. The 3.0+ firmware doesn't seem to allow those functions, but is there a way around that if the ipod touch is jailbroken?

I don't really know what "jailbreaking" does. I would guess that is simply avoids some software roadblocks put up by the OS. In that case, why couldn't other software be loaded on the touch to use the hardware that is already there?

    Thanks!

jailbreaking just allows unsigned code to be run (ie it doesn't need the magical apple stamp of approval)

Does that means the barrier to using all the hardware in the ipod touch is the OS? (like, it doesn't provide routines or methods to access, say, the FM transmitter) This functionality would then need to come from an updated OS or a cracked one. Is this correct?
