OK so the jailbreak for 3G (32GB and 64GB) is tethered. I don't fully understand what tethered is so I have a few questions.

If I jailbreak my iPod Touch 3G (32GB) and it runs out of battery or I turn it off manually, how do I turn it back on?

Do I turn it on normally? Or do I have to turn my iPod on using a computer? How with a computer?

When iPod turns on it will be un-jailbroken? And I have to re-jailbreak it?

Do I lose my music/videos/legit apps when I jailbreak with Blackra1n?
Will my real apps (not cracked) work after I JB?

When it turns off completely you need to plug it in to your computer and run blackra1n. You won't lose anything and it will be jailbroken still.

But if it turns off completely, I won't be able to turn it off regularily? I'll HAVE to take it to a computer to turn it on?

i thought i read that only the 8gb was tethered, but even if all the 3g ipods are, tethered means it will not turn on unless you use blackrain on your computer again, meaning if it dies you cant just charge it and turn it on, it wont work, you need to use blackrain again. Nothing at all changes in between when it turns off and when it turns on though, so just use blackrain and youre all set

EDIT: all 3g's are tethered, just correcting for anyone else reading

OK but what if I want to un-jailbreak. I have to do a full restore?

I just tried jailbreaking and a message on iTunes came up that read:

"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."

I don't want to restore my iPod

    You don't have to.

Plug your iPod into your PC. Run Blackra1n. It will put your iPod into recovery mode. iTunes will say that your iPod is in recovery mode you have to restore blah blah blah. Don't touch anything and in 20 seconds your iPod will be back at the lockscreen. Jailbroken. Unlock hit the blackra1n app on your springboard. Install cydia, rock, and/or icy. When you restart your iPod it show the recovery icon and to fully boot it you have to plug it back into your computer and run blackra1n.

Ok but when you restore, aren't you are forced to upgrade to 3.1.2 firmware??

Aahh... what if I just want to restore and keep 3.1.1 firmware

I just jailbroke my ipod touch 3g on a mac. i didn't know about the tethering (because I never searched for it), however, what is the point of doing so?
I don't even know what Cydia is -I just did it because everybody online was saying that jailbreaking your ipod/iphone gives you many advantages. what exactly are these advantages?
    thank you
