First of all I don't think that is what he means.

There is no need to restore your iPod before you use redsn0w, all you have to do is put it into DFU mode and then run redsn0w (use the latest version, 0.8), there is no need to restore and it keeps all your music, videos and data untouched. There is a tutorial in the Firmware 3.0 section of the forum.

Note: Next time please post it in the appropriate section

OK i jailbroke my ipod to 3.0 with redsn0w 0.7.2 and when i restored my ipod it still had my edited carrier name, even after i restored which is weird. and it has a battery, and a percentage instead of just a battery. why didn't some stuff from my previous JB go away?

    1. Why did you restore?
    2. Some stuff is stored in the backup, so when you restore from backup after the restore, it remains on the iPod

Download SBSettings and undo numeric battery. Download MakeItMine for the carrier and then put it back to default.

Go to 'More' and then look around. I can't remember, haven't used it for a while.

could it be that i had some of my apps in folders using the categories app before i restored?
