I'd like to jailbreak my iPod touch 3G with Spirit and I've read a few guides on how to do so, but one thing still worries me. Once my device is jailbroken, if I eventually want to update (say to 4.0) or if I need to restore, will all of my apps' data be lost? Or is there a way to back it up beforehand? I mean stuff like saved games and highscores in App Store apps.

I'm relatively new to jailbreaking, and up to now what I've read about this issue in forums, etc has slightly confused me... But I understand that when it comes to Cydia apps there are apps available to make backups of this type of data but that App Store apps are more trouble. Is that right?

whenever you sync in itunes it creates a backup of your app data, photos, contacts, notes, ect. If you ever did restore you would restore then set up from the backup, it would be just like it before but unjailbroken.

And it would restore properly even if the backup had been made with the jailbroken ipod?
