Since updating to IOS4 on my 3G it has become so painfully slow so i'm hoping upgrading to 4.0.1 might make a few changes, but since i have to unlock it to be able to use it thought i'd double check this info

IOS4.0.1 can be jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.5b which means it can then be unlocked using ultrasn0w through cydia afterwards correct?

Does anyone know if there are many changes with 4.0.1?

4.0.1 doesn't have many changes. Just more acurate signal bars. I suggest you downgrade back to 3.1.3 as it would be much faster. As for the unlock I think you can because the BB remained the same

4.0.1 didn't upgrade the baseband, the unlock should still work. As for speeding it up, 4.0.1 wont do that either.

can't downgrade to 3.1.3 unless you saved the codes though can you?

If so point me in the direction, i've been wanting to downgrade for a long time!

Considering you have an iPhone 3G, you should have no problems downgrading to a lower firmware.

You should back up your 4.0/4.0.1 shsh blobs though. Every device now has to back them up on firmwares > 4.0 if they wish to restore to that firmware in the future.

Just like bobby said you have a 3G. They do not have SHSH blobs for those FW's. If you want to dowgrade, use iTunes 9.0 or lower place the phone in DFU and Shift Restore to 3.1.3

I've done all that several times and get the error code 1015

so i'm trying to use irecovery to get it out of the loop but it keeps telling me there is no iphone/ipod detected

I installed libusb and it displays this

    DLL version: 0.1.12.2
    Driver version: -1.-1.-1.-1

    bus/device idVendor/idProduct

Im running windows 7 64 bit don't know if it makes a difference, just need to get it out of the loop but it's not recognising my iphone
