I have a few questions about Jailbreaking the ipod touch 2g.

What do you actually gain? Do you lose the ability to download apps, music, games from itunes?

Where can I read more general info about the benefits of jailbreaking.

    Thanks,

    Touched.

You don't lose anything but you will have the ability to add themes which will slow down the ipod along with some crappy game emulators.

You can download songs, tv show episodes, movies, videos off YouTube, high quality DivX vids, apps for free, utilities that will revolutionize the way your iPod works and more.

To be honest, you're an idiot if you don't jailbreak.

100% safe. You can't "brick" it. It's easy. It's dumb if you don't do it.

It will not "slow down" your iPod. Some things might go slow depending on what you're running.

Either way, do it. Unless you're an idiot.

It actually does slow down your iPod as the SpringBoard is using more RAM from typical installations such as Mobile Substrate extensions such as WinterBoard or SBSettings.

To read up on what you could gain, check this thread and this one too.
