Jailbreak origins

    The devs that first jailbroke the iPod, hell even current devs working on the 2g jailbreak, where did they get the knowledge? Were they software developers who then specialized in the iPod? Or were they just fans who are a bit technologically inclined?
    Also do the devs get paid for the jailbreak releases or is it strictly freelance

    Also how hard would it be to learn how to modify more indepth aspects of jailbroken iPods

    They are still working on it, RedSnow Lite is just to hold everyone over until the official RedSnow is out.

    The real question was something along the lines of how did the dev team learn all of this stuff.

    I would say it came from an inside man from Apple. Because honestly how can you just release a device and it immediately be hackable?
