    Jailbreak for sure.

    Obvious advantages:
    - Add more fonts for use with Pages, Numbers and Keynote
    - Get access to and manage your documents from multiple apps in a more organized manner
    - Read/write a USB drive or SD card with the camera connection kit (using iFile, in case no one noticed)
    - Fully manage which app is running and which is not (multitasking included)
    - Add swap file support to allow for more free RAM for the currently running app
    - Themes, custom icons
    - Emulators for older game systems
    - Tether 3G network to other devices, if you have the 3G version
    - Modify fundamental functions (like disabling the app launching/closing animation... would make apps launch and close much faster)

And since jailbreaking is now legal (at least in the US), I don't think there's much of a reason to not try it. You can always restore if you don't like it.

i mean, Christmas is in December and I really think Apple gonna open the next year with another anual iPad Keynote. The first iPad keynote was in January, so if you could wait a bit longer, i would go for the 2nd generation iPads, or get the current generation now

Sorry for off topic: but you really should jailbreak it

if you don't like it, just restore everything back and you're back on the original/ unjailbroken iPad. Give it a try, I would say.
