    Hi guys.

I jailbroke my iPod Touch 4G using Limera1n beta 1 - all is working great.
I backed up my SHSH blobs using Umbrella, and thus I just have one simple question:

    - On Twitter, I read something about my JB being overwritten if I update to the latest firmware. Will my SHSH blobs allow me to update, yet still preserve my JB?

    - When a new firmware update is released, will I be able to jailbreak this firmware version using Limera1n as well?

In short: What are the advantages of saving the SHSH blobs in the long run?

    Thanks!

SHSH Blobs helps you to downgrade the firmware if you accidentally upgraded, your JB will fly away if u update your firmware

SHSH blobs let you restore to whatever versions you have them saved for.

Example: You saved SHSH blobs for 4.1 and then version 4.2 comes out. If you hit restore, Apple won't let you restore to 4.1, but if you change a certain file, and have your SHSH blobs saved, you can still restore to 4.1 correct me if I'm wrong

Edit: No you will not retain your jailbreak

Will my iPod work just fine in the future if I ignore update-requests from iTunes?
And additionally - if (heaven forbid) I get tired of having a jailbroken iPod, do I just restore the firmware from iTunes in order to revert the jailbreak process?

You dont need to use the firmware updates apple will no doubt flood the place with. Just turn automatic updates on itunes off, and ignore any new releases that come out. You can upgrade once a jailbreak for newer FW is out.

You can restore and upgrade to new firmware if you get tired of having a JB, but you wont get tired lol

and Yes...you can restore back to un-jailbroken ipod/iphone by simply 'restoring' in itunes and all will be as if you never jb'd. Your device will work just fine if you ignore apples pleas to update this and that.
