well, unless you buy it later on and it comes with 4.2, then you have to wait for the programs to be updated, but yes ipt4 is jailbroken for life!

Or they decide to update the bootrom. Otherwise, this device is pwned4life.

Hey sorry for a highjack of the thread but it is basically what your asking

Can anyone explain to me the advantages of jail breaking?
I do know that you can get free apps that might not be in the app store and additional features for free but are there any disadvantages of jailbreaking an iTouch or iPhone?
I had heard that it makes the device slower in processing simple tasks, but that's about it?
    Are there any other risks?
Also, how hard is it to get familiar with these 2 programs like greenpoison or limera1n?

Not necessarily, a lower level exploit was used so even if 4.2 is preinstalled on unsold iOS devices, the exploit will still work as long as the bootrom isn't updated.

    that too haha

honestly, I feel free when I jailbreak. For one thing, it is the simple aspect of theming your iDevice. I like to be able to customize it, and jailbreaking it gives you that. I have an ipt4 and I have not noticed any lag, any slow processing. Everything seems fine.

jailbreaking with Greenpoison is fairly simple. do what it tells you. click jailbreak. wait for it to do its thing. bam done.

no risks. you cannot get a virus, as some people have thought. you cannot brick an iDevice. really there are no risks to jailbreaking. if you ever need a warranty replacement, just restore and you will have unjailbroken firmware ready to go to the apple store.

I highly recommend it. Sbsettings is great. WinterBoard is great. Themes are AMAZING. Go for it.

I jailbreak only for a few reasons: a couple .plist hacks. Basically, HDR and a new app drawer exit image. Read about them on the FP.
