So I was jailbreaking my ipod touch 2g following http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=3206 and i think i broke my ipod. I followed every step and when i tried restoring my ipod with the new firmware, it said 'The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An Unknown error occured (9).'

Now my screen won't even turn on. What do I do???

(Screenshot of the error message attached.)

Any error like that would have to be because of something you did in terminal wrong. Your iPod is not broken if you can restore with the original firmware.

So what happens if you try restoring it to original firmware. Or try unplugging it and plugging it in again, but not while its restoring!!

Well put it into DFU mode, if you've tried restoring, then you know how to do this, after you've put it into DFU, you have to restore it back to ORIGINAL before trying jailbreak again. And if you are trying to jailbreak, then i suggest untethered. There are many tuturials on this site with the apps quickfreedom (windows) and untetherizer (mac).

it doesn't work. it says that the software isn't current and it can't restore without it.

Have you tried clicking just the restore button without opening a file OR if that's what you've been doing, then try opening the original, unpwned firmware, you should have that as it says in the tuturial you have.

    A. Install iTunes on another hard drive.
    B. Plug your iPod into another USB port.
    C. If it keep happening I will think about other ideas.
