I am using a 2G iPod Touch, that I jailbroke while on OS 2.2.1. While jailbroken, I set the wireless signal icon to numeric display instead of the signal bars.

When OS 3.0 released, I reset the OS before upgrading it, but even after the reset and upgrade, the wireless icon still displays in numbers. Unfortunately, it switched to using the field test system for iPhones that displays in negative numbers going from -50 down to display signal strength.

I have tried both reinstalling the OS and doing a hard reset, but nothing seems to get the icon back to normal. Is my only option to jailbreak it again, turn off the numeric display, and reset it?

EDIT: forgot to mention that this continued on when i got my iPhone 3G and connected it to iTunes. Now I am trying to sell it, and everyone thinks it is messed up.

    Thanks

Don't "restore from backup" in iTunes.
