No, that isn't possible
I love how people forget about the Chronic Dev team and assume that the iPhone dev was the only one doing the jailbreak process. Yes it is true that iPhone dev has halted any progress on the 2g jailbreak, but from my understanding Chronic is still working on it. As far as your question about the FW jailbreak, like you said, the beta's are already JB so we can only assume that the final version will be able to do so. Still have to wait for an actual 2g JV though. And for pros and cons, just search for a thread, it will answer any questions you may have.Please Register or Log in to view images

actually I only knew about one dev team really didn't know there was a chronic dev team
A quick question, I got a 1g iPod Touch.
Will I also be able to upgrade to 2.2 and is Chronic Dev team working on a JB for 1st Gen iPod Touch?
LOL erased my entire comment. Just nothing to say
DeavTeam will have a jeailbreak ready within a week, so no need for chronic dev on that.
Is chronic dev still active? he's website and blog have both been taken down.
I'm looking at it right now.
@OP: 2.2 is jailbreakable in 1G, but not 2G.
EDIT: For those who understand the jailbreak process, you can see actual progress here. There's no dead set date for the release, because it is unknown when/if an exploit will be found.
Ugh, i was looking at the wrong blog Please Register or Log in to view images
