One thing I was wondering was if I could hide some lines from the Grub bootloader, so instead of recovery mode and all that, I could just have Ubuntu and Vista?

    Thanks

Not sure about the Dual Boot Menu, mine is only Ubuntu and Vista and if i select Ubuntu then it counts down and if i don't press anything it just boots to default login screen...

The boot menu options are in /boot/grub/menu.lst

Just remove the ones you don't want. You will need to open it as root in order to be able to save it.

No harm, just install it through Wubi if you're on Windows...

I did that first, but it didn't recognise my sound card or something (I couldn't get sound working). I've had the disc for ages, I was just bored enough today to get it all sorted

Yeah, my laptop wouldn't recognize the disc it always said it was blank but all the other computers i tried it on said it worked so wubi was the only way i could do it.
