    Hi. I've searched around this site and the internet many times, and it's answered some of my questions, and also raised some new ones. Basically, I want to run iPhone and 3rd party apps on my iPod Touch. I know that I first need to jailbreak the iPod Touch so that it can run these applications. I will be using Windows

    () primarily for syncing my iPod Touch, so I should probably use the "Windows Jailbreak"...right? I also have access to a Mac if needed, but I won't be using it regularly, and I'll probably end up setting up my touch using Windows anyway...

    I looked around and found this solution:
    http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Windows_jailbreak
    using "planetbeing's utility."

    Although I know nothing about it, so some help from someone who has used it in the past would be VERY APPRECIATED! It seems to have some kind of instructions, but not entirely...

    Also, when the method you use to jailbreak the Touch (such as the one above) is fixed by Apple in an update, is your Touch still jailbreaked, and will non-preinstalled applications work?

    Thanks in advance!!

    EDIT: Looking more into Planetbeing's site, it seems like this: http://www.slovix.com/touchfree/jb would work just as well. I've seen it on other sites too, but will it allow me to install 3rd party apps AND iPhone apps (editable calendar, Mail.app, Google Maps, etc.)??

    Thanks again!

    http://www.slovix.com/touchfree/jb will jailbreak your iPod and install Installer.app (which you use to install all the other programs). You don't need a computer in anyway to do this. I have jailbroken my iPod 4 times, 2 on the manual way, 1 automatic, and the other with the website above, the website is far best the easiest and most beautiful way.

    To install the iPhone applications, follow this guide: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1659

    If you update (it's optional), your iPod will be 'put back in jail', so no more iPhone apps or any other 3rd party applications.

    Thanks a lot for the help! Just to clear up one more thing:
    If I update, and it gets "put back in jail" as you said, do my apps still stay on my iPod Touch so that I can just use the jailbreak again and it works? Also, will I have to wait for another jailbreak to come out after each update?

    Thanks!

    What do you mean if I move my applications like that? Do you mean if I put them on my Touch through SSH? Because your link is "How to get around the 3rd party applications limit"....?!

    Thanks again for your help!
