so i was looking at ivampire and noticed that it had screenshots of a jailbroken ipod does this mean that apple doesnt care what the developers put on the app store?

Apple is not associated with what deva do to their iPod.... It's not illegal. But they do care what goes into the app store

probably from a custom carrier or a numeric battery

Yeah, it has a numeric battery and a custom signal strength thing. Nice find.

Ah okay cool, mine isn't jailbroken and havn't seen one before, that numerical battery would be handy, is there any legit way to do it because I don't think I'm interested in jailbreaking it.

All things of customization for the iPod are through the jailbreak. Sorry.

It IS possible, actually. All you need to do is to make a "backup" of a jailbroken iPod with numeric battery enabled. Then restore to that backup on an unjailbroken iPod. Voila, numeric battery!
