itunes thinks my ipod is a iphone

    as above my itunes thinks my ipod is a iphone so when i click restore it doesnt work as the software it thinks isnt compatible obviosuly. how can i fix this?

    thats odd...did you update it with an iphone firmware that you downloaded (illegally)?

    and are you sure you didnt just name your ipod iphone? Like after you restore it asks you for a name for it, are you sure you didnt type iphone?

    Downloading iPhone firmware isn't illegal since it's free firmware and I doubt he updated his iPod with iPhone firmware if his problem is, "so when i click restore it doesnt work as the software it thinks isnt compatible obviosuly."

    try putting your ipod in dfu mode then restore it
    that might help

    My ipod is also recognized as an iphone, however it hasn't created any sort of problems...

    i bought the 3.0 legaly off itunes. it extracted software then broke and it wont even restore now.

    Plug it out then put it back in. DFU restore afterwards.

    Put it into DFU mode,

    Then Try A forced jailbreak with this program called "Quickfreedom" Google it its really easy. Once your iPod is forced jailbroken, it'll be recognized with an iPod with iPod software on it, after that, you can revert to legitimate (non-jailbroken) software, or you can keep the jailbroken mode your choice.
